West Middlesex Hospital marks 100 days until Cerner EPR goes live

West Middlesex Hospital has marked 100 days until it goes live with a new EPR system.

The hospital, which is part of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, plans to go live with its clinical system, which is being supplied by Cerner, on 4 May.

The Cerner EPR will go live in several phases at West Middlesex, starting with patient administration and followed by modules for the emergency department and operating theatres.

It is hoped the system will be rolled out across Chelsea and Westminster Hospital next year.

The completion of the EPRĀ implementation across both hospitals is expected by the end of 2019.

ā€œThe staggered introduction is to ensure any changes will have minimal impact on our patients,”Ā said West Middlesex Hospital director, Tina Benson.

“The IT and hospital teams are working hard to guarantee a seamless transition from the old to the new system.”

West Middlesex merged with Chelsea and Westminster in 2015 which the trust said gave it the chance to update their patient record systems.

Rob Hodgkiss, chief operating officer at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, said: ā€œUltimately we will have one single system across the whole Trust which will give us better data collection, analysis and drive improvements for patients and clinicians.ā€

Back in October last year, Digital Health News reported thatĀ Chelsea and Westminster Hospital had pilotedĀ wireless environmental sensors in its intensive care unit.
